matthill57 ErichRahm MikeRoof You're actively making things worse: rubiconglobal.com/blog-recycling-contamination/ just give up on recycling if you throw contaminated items in there, because with enough contamination you can actually have a net negative impact when a processor wastes a batch with too high of a % contaminated.

matthill57 ErichRahm MikeRoof China is a complicated part of recycling, but putting recent changes aside: anything above 0.5% contamination == landfill, but only after significant upstream cost, which discourages recycling across the entire industry: regionalrecycling.org/the-battle-against-recycling-contamination-is-everyones-battle/

matthill57 ErichRahm MikeRoof i.e. if you're not rinsing food containers and pre-sorting contaminated items, just cancel your recycling service and do everyone a favor by just sending it to the landfill to begin with. If everyone sends 1 contaminated item out of 100, it's a bunch of wasted time and resource
