    1. I really do not understand the argument for making the JS engine ignore certain areas of code (forever! we can't undo this!) because it would bring Typescript users back into JS without a compiler. Why is it ECMAScript's job to look more like your language?

    You know what would bring Typescript users back into JavaScript? Using JavaScript. They chose to use a different language with different syntax, that's TS' problem, not JS' problem.
