          1. "There is no such thing as web development fundamentals" is patently absurd. It implies that advancements in the field are flashes of inspiration from some god communicating through a few god-developers who we should deify.

Of COURSE there are fundamentals of web development. Broadly, they are HTML, CSS, and JS. But more specifically, they are understanding data modeling and architecture, color and typography, human-computer interface design, and on and on.

You can't learn them all, but you should learn some (I'm more on the data modeling and architecture/software architecture side). Saying these don't exist is the same as saying Kraft Mac & Cheese is all you need to know to be a chef.

You know it's absurd on its face, so why even make that claim? There is value in Kraft Mac & Cheese, and frozen dinners you can just reheat, and all kinds of abstractions away from cooking. You do not NEED to be a chef to eat food.

But you would rightfully laugh at a person who buys a Big Mac and proudly proclaims "I am a well-educated chef! Behold my creation!" Come on. Of course there are web development fundamentals. The question is what do you gain by trying to claim there are not?
