  1. One of the biggest reasons I'm so excited about Web Components is because I'm so tired of build steps and arbitrary complexity. I'm so fucking tired of it. The cognitive load lifted when I don't have to think about transpiling or compiling makes me feel good doing development.

We can have all the benefits of component driven design without the absolute horse-shittery of compilation and transpilation. It's a burden to do these things, but maybe you haven't noticed because that's just "the way web development is now." It's not. It can be better.

The closest I've gotten to actually enjoying web development in the last 6 years was when I discovered RactiveJS. Doing something well, with mastery, and understanding it completely is what brings me happiness, and the current state of (many things in) web dev stole that from me

RactiveJS Web Components brings back the feeling that I'm actually writing software for the web. Everything since jQuery fell out of favor has felt like I'm writing software for a robot with really strange demands who then writes software for the web. It's exhausting and not fun at all.

RactiveJS I'm not really going anywhere with this except to say: I've really been feeling like web development isn't for me any more, but Web Components might actually pull me back in. If you feel like that too, maybe check them out.
