    Semi-related: I've recently been exposed to the reality that people actually LOVE to be mind-controlled by advertising and will just take in whatever an ad says and accept that as reality with zero critical thought. It is extremely sad and frustrating to me.

      Well De Beers says that only REAL diamonds are good and they control all the real diamonds and distribute them carefully to control supply (despite having literal vaults full of diamonds) and so I am sure there's nothing suspicious about the various sources here.
