                  1. Family member sent me a hit piece on Anthony Fauci in The Washington Times written by Scott Perry and Anthony Bellotti which quotes the White Coat Waste Project and... Boy where do I start with this...

The Washington Times was started and fully controlled by Sun Myung Moon. That's the guy who - among a federal rap sheet a mile long - started the "Unification movement", a well-known cult know as the Moonies.

The Washington Times has posted many articles with ridiculous premises. Denying climate change, denying ozone depletion, denying that second-hand smoke is dangerous. Etc. They are the organization that started One America News Network, OANN.

Scott Perry is a Republican state representative, which should be clear enough on it's own. Anthony Bellotti started the White Coat Waste Project, which is the only source quoted in the article.

The article makes many wildly unfounded statements. Some of them might seem relevant if you squint, but others are just the ramblings of two insane, Republican, sociopaths which is three redundant words in a row, my personal best.

The article breathlessly reports that the NIH is doing testing on dogs. That's the thing. That's it. It's not news. It sucks, but it's not news.

I do want to pull one quote out though, because it's a total non-sequitor for the article but it's also a nice little snapshot of the minds of these people and of this "news" paper.

"Dr. Fauci’s NIH division also funded the reckless gain-of-function animal experiments in Wuhan, China, that most taxpayers now believe caused the COVID-19 pandemic." I can't speak to whether this is even factually true, because I'm exhausted already...

But "reckless" is an opinion not widely shared by any scientist who understands that we need to get ahead of these viruses before they cause a global pande.... oh wait maybe we should find this more, not less?

Most taxpayers do not believe a Wuhan lab created Covid-19. Also, "taxpayers" is doing a TON of work here. First, it's a dog whistle to racists that "'dem damn illegals" don't matter. Then, it's carrying the entire weight of "we made this claim up"...

The idea is to fall back to a nebulous "well actually if you only count god-fearing taxpayers, the majority DO support this idea." Of course, the idea that Covid-19 was created in a lab is dubious, and there's no evidence at all to support it.

But if The Washington Times and OANN didn't post inflammatory things with no value based on lies and opinion meant to twist and melt the brains of racists and simpletons, what else would they have!?
