    1. From this reporting (and without any actual insight into the law) it sounds like there are a ton of ways Apple could continue extracting $100 a pop from their hostages.     More likely, though - and in line with Apple's historical plays, they'll add software on top of the basic cable. It sounds like the law will make it work (and maybe even work at high speed), but they'll show a big, scary warning on the screen that it's not a Certified Apple cable

      They've lied for years about how they are the only trustworthy authority on safety and security, so their hostages will have the typical fear response and rush out to buy an Apple-approved USB-C charging cable.
