      1. Apple refuses to implement standardized RCS protocols for messaging, or to implement/share messaging encryption with other software providers. They send your messages unencrypted outside of iMessages because of corporate bottom lines. "Human" "Rights" but only if you pay Apple. tim_cook/1487100529251520512

To really drive this home: if they really believe that privacy is a human right, then the fact that they will not encrypt your messages outside of the Apple ecosystem means they don't believe you're a worthwhile human unless you buy into, and stay inside, their walls.

It's not an impossible problem to solve, it would just require them to work with other software companies to build a common encryption standard. If I recall correctly, Google has invited them to implement theirs so that Android and iPhone can share E2E encrypted messages.

The key is that this would benefit users. There would be no incentive to stick with iMessage (or iPhone) because you get encryption everywhere. This would hurt Apple a bottom line. Hence why - if memory serves - they declined Google's invitation to collaborate.

Hence why they don't care about you as a human, with human rights. They care about you as a consumer who spends dollars with them exclusively. You are a budgetary line item.
