  1. This is frustrating to me. If the response to "this doesn't work in your browser" is "well it also doesn't work in any of these other browsers" then WHAT IS THE POINT OF YOUR BROWSER?
oh my god twitter doesn’t include alt text from images in their API

I appreciate that making your browser Chromium-based is a strategic decision to iterate on OTHER features (e.g. non-engine stuff), but I think you also have to address that as technical debt.

All of us Web Developers didn't just say "Well all the other jQuery sites also have performance problems when doing heavy DOM manipulation" and shrug it off, we fucking moved to new tech.

And the feint of "No it's a Chromium core bug" stinks. Are you not a browser based on Chromium? Would you say, err, that the open source browser code you use is... your core?

You don't get to offload engineering resources to a global monoculture engine and then also deny all of the problems associated with that. Did you, or did you not base your entire company on chromium? You can only pick one.

I appreciate what the Vivaldi team is doing. There are plenty of really neat features in the Vivaldi browser. The absolute biggest one is that they're a team that (so far) seems really interested in making a web browser and they've removed the privacy nightmare of Google.

Firefox stopped being a viable web browser because Mozilla stopped wanting to build a web browser.

But Vivaldi's privacy & focus does not absolve their fundamental core: it's a browser with all the same basic features as Chrome. If I can never hope to have a better experience, the line between just using Chrome and using Vivaldi is mighty thin.
