    These same failures - not understanding or valuing longer timescale equities - have demonstrable and extremely painful deleterious effects at nearly every company I've been with, each blindly cargo-culting the big VC firms.

      I leave - typically - when it's clear these places don't have interest in long-term solutions that require more than monthly or quarterly OKRs. Real, substantial impact cannot be done at that scale. They just want Googlebucks, not a future-proof product.
