kerrizor There is an accepted standard for good chat and Apple won't implement it, which exposes everyone (including Apple users) to major security problems because they fall back to insecure SMS.

kerrizor Anybody's guess why they won't, but the prevailing idea is that iMessage is a very sticky product and since the open standard implements virtually all of the features of iMessage, it would remove a barrier from people escaping the Apple lock-in.
