    seldo It's been a while, but iirc, roughly: - humanity and/or humanity's self of importance in the universe - physics, faster-than-light communication, "we are alone" - not sure about this (other than perhaps "how does this exist?"), but what rule says "sci-fi" has to explore tech?

      seldo (again, been a long time) I think it's a pretty fascinating contrast between human things (like what an authoritarian government can do to people) juxtaposed with the increasingly obvious revelation that there is sentient life communicating with us.
